A Dill of a Pickle

I seem to have gotten myself into a situation with the former owners of BoBo. I let them visit him once a month at my house because they are old and they miss him...and I am a sucker. I am at my wits end now though. They came up a few days ago to take him for a walk. I didn't let them in like I usually do and sit and talk for a while. This time I was all business. I gave them his leash and Sam and I took the "A" Team for a run. We got back and they were sitting outside of the fence with him. They instantly started complaining about BoBo being hot and not having access to water. I told them that if they would have just let him into HIS yard he would have gone through the dog door and drank from HIS water bowl. Blah, blah, blah...I got a message from them later saying they were concerned about him and if I couldn't keep him they would take him back. I have not responded yet because as we all know I have a hard time with balance. I don't want to say too little and have them continue coming up, but I want to make it clear that they chose to get rid of their dog and that they really are not welcome to come up any more. They have put me down in some way every time they come up. My neighbor was even making fun of it yest. He heard them asking if he ever goes to the vet. Please help yo.

UPDATE

I finally spoke with Linda, the woman at the Yuma shelter that I have been harassing for days. Little Einstein got transfered today to a shelter in Phoenix. I have already called them and left a message. She told me that they also got in a 7 year old half blind pomeranian that is deemed unadoptable. I asked her to see how he does with other dogs and I would see what I could do from my end. The saga continues...but I feel better knowing that the little critter is alive and on the road to a new "no-kill" shelter.

Feeling Annoyed and Helpless

So, like I said before, I got an urgent email from a woman at the shelter in Yuma about Einstein yesterday. Well, I have emailed twice and have left 5 messages and called many more times. I HAVE HEARD NOTHING BACK!! I feel so helpless right now. There is no way that this dog has come into my life just to get euthanized anyway. Any words of wisdom?

Yuma

O.K.....I called the shelter down in yuma. The guy that is in charge of adoption was so very unhelpful....I asked him if Einstein(the name would change) gets along well with other dogs and people. He said he wasn't sure because they don't socialize their animals at all. BUT (the dog) is getting transfered to a shelter in Phoenix in a week. I'm going to call them and see whats up from there.
I feel ill...I just checked my email to see if they had an update. The rescue in Phoenix fell through and they are going to "put him down" on wed. I left them a message asking them to call me so we can figure something out. I may be traveling a lot sooner then I thought. Please put out good thoughts for this little critter. See David, crusty IS cute.

Yuma, Arizona

.....I have found a little treasure. He is adorable. I will be speaking with the shelter in yuma today about a little gem they have. If all goes as I would like, I'll fly down and get him after I get back from MN. He is a black chihuahua/pomeranian mix...so frigin cute and crusty looking.

New Dogs

I have been enjoying the easiness of a four dog life. It's crazy, get up, feed them all the same thing, no meds....it feels so .....easy. (which I've never been good at really)

Honestly, I can't wait to see who the next dog will be that enters our world. What will be his/her problem? What will we get to do for them? It's so exciting. I really don't want another dog until I get back from MN though. I want it to be an easy time away without the stress of "what if's" while I'm gone. I have an AWESOME dogsitter. He stays at my house with his dog the whole time I'm gone. His dog, Pearl, is beautiful (new dog pic) and she and Akai have become very good friends. The dogsitter and good friend (David) takes Akai out to play frisbee golf with him, which she loves. We are very blessed.

I'm Back......

this is a birthday party for Victoria's neighbor
Her neighbors........

the new puppy, Victoria's, not mine. His name is Attikus
Anya, her kid
Scott, her man, trying to look tough
pouty pants
best buds
a beautiful boy named Rogue
the BEST red shoes....duh

Hello, I am back from my trip out east. I have never been happier to be home. It's so funny how much I have fallen in love with Leadville over the last year. It has taken so long for me to feel like this is home.
My trip went well, I accomplished little. I did expand my wardrobe though, which is priceless. I got the BEST pair of red shoes EVER!

Wolfie passed away while I was gone. I'm so glad he had a great place to live out his days. He got to play with puppy, eat, sleep on down blankets and lay in the sun. Not a bad way to go. I know Naa-yu welcomed him with open paws.

I have some pictures of my trip.....the scowly guy is Victoria's husband Scott, the pouty girl is her daughter Anya. Victoria adopted two dogs while I was there, they are also represented. I did not get any....they weren't needy enough. We went to her neighbors birthday party...the band and the older couple...........
O.K. I think I did the picture thing corectly...I'm trying to figure out how to make it look pretty. I'll get it man, not to worry.

So, I have my 15 year class reunion this summer...first weekend in August in MN at Canterbury Downs Race Track at a bar call "Ubetcha". Is that considered hell? So, in the last few weeks I've gotten back in touch with quite a few old friends. It has been so fun to talk with them all again. I think we have come to the ever so smart decision to skip the reunion and have our own this fall somewhere else. My great friend and love, Eric Harman and myself are going to plan it. It feels so great to have these people back in my life.
